Kill Them With Kindness

Is this hard for anyone else? There are times when people push you to the limit of breaking and the "earthly" person in me wants to just snap on them but then there is a voice in the back of my head that tells me to love my enemies and do to unto others as I would have them do unto me just as I tell my kids. That is a hard one for me. It is hard to be nice when you just do not feel like it. It is hard to be nice when you know the other person is trying as hard as possible not to. It tests my faiths every now and again and I have to pray for strength in this area! Today I had to refer back to a bible study that I did by Jean Stockdale on the book of James. I love my MOMS bible study by Jean and I often refer back to her notes for guidance! James was a very convicting book for me because it deals with controlling the tongue! The following are some of the notes that I had written down in my bible:

The tongue must be controlled because of its power to control us.

When the tongue is bridled and the rudder of the ship is set by the Holy Spirit, your life will reflect the image of Jesus.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.

Proverbs 16:24 says, Pleasant words are honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Proverbs 16:21, says, Sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Do others see and hear Jesus in you?

As I was reviewing this bible study, I found myself very convicted today! I want my tongue to be used as a tool to witness not to hurt! As hard as it is I am going to continue to work on this every day! I hope that if you have trouble with your tongue that these verses will help! They have helped me today!
